Welcome to North Sumatra! Upon arrival at Kualanamu International Airport (KNO), your English-speaking guide will greet you. Scenic drive passing rubber and palm oil plantations to Bukit Lawang, a village at the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park. Check into your eco-lodge beside the Bohorok River and relax.
After breakfast, begin a half-day rainforest trek to look for Thomas leaf monkeys, gibbons, Sumatran orangutans, and other wildlife. Sightings are never guaranteed; the guide adjusts the route and respectful viewing distance to the natural conditions that day. After the trek, take a traditional tube rafting ride back to your lodge. The rest of the afternoon is free at leisure.
Today we drive off-road to Tangkahan, known as the "Hidden Paradise." If elephant conservation activity is underway, viewing is from a safe distance with no guest participation. Guests do not feed, bathe, ride, touch, or make direct contact with elephants. Afterwards, drive back to Medan City. Check into your hotel and enjoy the city's culinary scene at night.
Enjoy a brief morning tour visiting the historical Tjong A Fie Mansion, showcasing beautiful Chinese-European architecture. Depending on your flight schedule, our driver will transfer you to Kualanamu Airport for your onward journey.
